Mission

In partnership with local jurisdictions, the private sector and non-profit organizations, the Douglas County Emergency Management Agency will coordinate and promote a comprehensive risk and scenario-based program of local emergency management and homeland security in order to establish a more disaster-resilient community in Douglas County, Nebraska.

Mitigation

     This is a key principal of emergency management.  Mitigation involves those activities designed to reduce or eliminate long-term risk.

Preparedness
     Preparedness strives to ensure that when disaster strikes, emergency personnel are able to provide the best response.

Response
     Response actions include those actions that are conducted immediately after a disaster occurs.

Recovery
     This process involves the long-term efforts that return a community to "normalcy."
