An Ounce of Prevention...

The Hazard Mitigation program is a federal program that aims at preventing or mitigating the damaging results due to disasters.  It is locally coordinated by the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District.  Local projects are submitted for comparison, prioritization and Federal Emergency Management Agency approval at the regional level.  Since there is a great need for flood control and levee maintenance in our community, these projects are prioritized accordingly and initiated in a multi-year process of implementation and construction.
