Everyone Should Have an Emergency Kit

Part of being prepare for a community emergency or natural disaster (CEND) incident is being prepared with the appropriate items to escape, communicate, shelter-in-place and survive.  It is recommended by many authorities that emergency kits be comprised of those items and information that allow you to survive for at least 72 hours and recover from a CEND incident if ever your household goods are damaged or lost.   There are many good websites that describe and recommend specific contents of a satisfactory emergency kit.  It should also be emphasized that a good emergency kit not only contain consumable supplies and items but preparations should also include information needed to adequately locate and replace financial and medical prescriptions, cards and information.  Federal guidance can be found at the website listed below.
