altDouglas County Health Center has 21 Assisted Living apartments. Assisted Living provides apartment-type living with the added benefit of minimal assistance with care, prepared meals and staff supervision.|wproSelectionStart||wproSelectionEnd| 

Long Term Care (LTC) at Douglas County Health Center is aimed at meeting the many needs of the population we serve. As stated in our philosophy, we strive to enhance the resident's quality of life whether the goal is to restore health, maintain health or to provide comfort and support for the end of life.

We are licensed for 254 LTC beds divided over 8 nursing units.

As part of our LTC services, we provide care to residents who have special needs related to Alzheimer / Dementia, Huntington's Chorea, or a psychiatric diagnosis.

Care is provided by RN's, LPN's, and Nursing Assistants.

Mission:
 
To prepare and serve quality, nutritious food in an attractive, sanitary and efficient manner to meet the nutritional needs of all patients, residents, and employees at the least cost.

What We Do:

  • Meals shall be served according to pre-planned menus which meet the US RDA's for Adults
  • Delivery times will be scheduled so that the time between the evening meal and breakfast meal does not exceed 14 hours
  • Residents are provided food which is nutritious and of high quality
  • Diets will be ordered according to accepted procedures. Dietary restrictions will be adhered to closely
  • Dietary Services will provide food for patient outings and activities as requested by Recreational Therapy, Partial Care or Youth Center
  • The nutritional status of all newly admitted long-term-care patients will be assessed within twenty-four hours of admission, excluding weekends and holidays
  • The Registered Dietitians or Clinical Dietetic Assistant will routinely monitor the patient's tolerance to and satisfaction with the diet to ensure adequate nutritional intake and enhance quality of life
  • Nutritional counseling is provided to outpatients referred by Primary Health, Psychiatric Outpatient and Partial Care

Our mission, as Employee Health, is to provide a high quality of care to every person in all work environments.  We pledge to give optimum customer service to satisfy the requests of our clients.

Employee Health is here for the employees of the Douglas County Health Center (Health Center) and is happy to assist all employees with everything from a sore throat to an extended medical leave requiring FMLA. 

Once offered a position within the Health Center all new employees are required to have a new hire physical to ensure that they are current on all immunizations for their own safety and the safety of our residents.  If needed we are happy to provide Hepatitis B vaccinations for those employees that would like to receive it. 

Other services offered through Employee Health include annual TB screening, influenza vaccine, Tdap vaccine, select over the counter medication to treat non-infectious conditions such as headaches, cough, allergies, etc. We are happy to assist employees monitor their weight and blood pressure.  Because employees are required to call Employee Health when they are out due to illness, we are able to assist them with leave paperwork, if necessary, in addition to offering suggestiions on how to best handle their illness; encouraging them to be seen by their MD when necessary.  This information is also important to prevent the transmission of illness to co-workers and residents; we encourage our employees to STAY HOME when they are sick.

In the unfortunate event that an employee has a work related injury, or possible blood exposure, we are here to assist the employee; making contact with the appropriate contracted agencies in addition to first aide, if needed, and emotional support.   

Over the years we have earned the confidence and trust of many of the Health Center employees giving them a confidential place to come, sit down and discuss any personal issues both work and non-work related.  We work closely with the Douglas County Employee Assistance Program and are happy to assist employees get in contact with them as requested, or, if we feel it could be helpful.

The employees of the Health Center are our patients and we take a great deal of pride in providing them with the best possible care available.
