In general, Deputy Sheriffs perform field and office duties as uniformed or non-uniformed officers. These duties may include:
- Cruiser Patrol
- Serving Mentally Ill Warrants
- Appearing As Court Witnesses
- Supervising Civilian Employees
- Investigating Violations of Law
- Apprehending Law Violators
- Investigating Accidents and Rendering Aid to the Public
- Conducting Sheriff Sales as Required by Law
- Making Reports
- Booking and Guarding Prisoners
- Collecting Delinquent Taxes
- Gathering and Preserving Evidence
- Carrying Out Eviction Procedures
- Replevin of Property
- Serving Civil Papers
- Providing Courtroom Security
