Douglas County Commissioner Chris Rodgers is teaming up with the North Omaha Neighborhood Alliance, Clair Memorial United Methodist Church and the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Omaha to host a town hall meeting next week for property owners. The goal: to discuss a Nebraska Supreme Court ruling from April that reversed a 2016 state tax commission’s order to reduce valuations by 8 percent on about 20,000 residential properties in northeast Omaha.

Commissioner Rodgers will also answer questions about protesting property valuations. Property owners can submit protests through June 30.

"The last two years have been a volatile time for northeast Omaha regarding property valuations and assessment,” Rodgers said. “We want to make sure people are informed and know the options available to them."
